La Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas dio a conocer a los semifinalistas en 10 categorías de los premios Oscar, los cuales se colocaron un paso más cerca de conquistar el codiciado galardón.
Las listas de finalistas se revelaron para estas 10 categorías de la 96ª edición de los Premios de la Academia:

“Barbie”, ha encabezado la lista con cinco menciones preliminares, seguida por la obra de Scorsese protagonizada por Leonardo DiCaprio, que obtuvo cuatro. Por su parte, “El color púrpura”, “Oppenheimer” y “Pobres criaturas” han conseguido tres cada uno.

Cabe destacar que la cinta española “La sociedad de la nieve” con tres menciones bajo la dirección de J.A. Bayona, quien busca hacerse con una de las estatuillas.
“La sociedad de la nieve” podría imitar el éxito en el “Sin novedad en el frente” del año pasado, que logró ganar cuatro galardones.
La votación para las nominaciones finales tendrá lugar del 11 al 16 de enero, seguida por el anuncio oficial de los nominados el día 23 del mismo mes.
La votación final será del 22 al 27 de febrero, culminando con la esperada 96ª entrega de los Premios de la Academia el domingo 10 de marzo
Asimismo, la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas AMACC, quien confirmó y decidió que la mexicana Tótem llegará a la búsqueda por el Oscar, tras su paso en algunos festivales a nivel mundial.
Tótem sería la elegida para representar a México, pues se ha fallado con cintas como ‘Noche de Fuego’ y Bardo, del director ganador del Óscar, Alejandro González Iñárritu.
